Through the lens of historical, contemporary, and speculative visual languages, my work investigates how structures of power and scale are established, entrenched, maintained, and inherited across systems and institutions. I break down the interaction between people and institutions in our society which act without consideration for those who live under them. In unraveling these dynamics, I reveal the function behind the immense structures under which we live.
I think in broad terms, as though I have a birds-eye view of the subject matter. Because I tackle the concepts from such an elevated, conceptual view, my work is a sort of hodge-podge of different viewpoints and approaches. My portfolio encompasses absurd juxtapositions of scale, critique of power, and awe at massive structures. Be it a machine of death, a feat of human ingenuity, an impressive piece of infrastructure, or a natural object that far exceeds our comprehension, I treat every subject with the weight it is, or is not, owed from the human perspective.
